Want to enhance education for facility allied health professionals (nurses, RTs, and social workers), to improve patient care, collaboration, efficiency and knowledge?
Dr. Lia Harris, a Vernon family physician, specializing in pediatrics, did just that by dedicating a tremendous number of hours offering PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) education this past fall.
Dr. David Smith, a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist and Area Medical Director for the Interior Health Central region, presented at the September Kelowna Capri Hotel Social Work Practice Lead Conference on a strategy of care for youth presenting to emergency departments with life-threatening opiate overdoses.
On May 15th, 2018, Dr. Jody Snook taught nurses about pediatric health. As well, during Nursing Education day held on November 23rd, 2018, she was available to answer questions, aid in discussion, and present the PEWS’ (BC’s Provincial Early Warning System in Emergency Departments) fluids assessment.
These dedicated physicians exemplify the spirit of the Facility Engagement Initiative.
